Side Effects on YouTube

UPDATE: I have had a lot of comments and emails asking about where we shot and other production questions.  I will create a Production category on our new Private site for anyone who wants to join and post inside info and tech stuff there.  Private site is coming soon!

SAP here…

So, I’ve avoided putting this good ol’ short on YouTube for years… why? Because I didn’t want to break it up into 2 parts.

That said, I broke it up into 2 parts.

This is the first short film I ever did, back in 2002.  I started writing it so I could put my friend Doug Jones in something where he was an actual human and not covered in tons of latex and what not.  Ended up writing this tale.  Here’s a review from filmthreat.com:

Writer/director/star Scott Allen Perry’s extraordinary short probably won’t make you cry, but that doesn’t mean it’s not the most haunting love story you’re likely to see anytime soon. Told with precision, sensitivity and skill, this is a funny, nightmarish tragicomedy with echoes of George Orwell and Roman Polanski. We’ve all heard about human guinea pigs; the sort of folk who rent out their bodies to make a little spare cash…

A nice shout out for a lot of effort gone in the right direction.  This is also the first time I put Ponce in anything, and he has gone nuts trying to act more and more and will most likely never stop.  Great performances by everyone across the board and great camera work by my DP and favorite bald man, David Loeb.

Enjoy!

Side Effects Synopsis:

A shy guy becomes a human guinea pig in an experimental drug test and meets the girl of his dreams. But the drug that brings them together may be the very thing that keeps them apart.
